Pennsylvania is a goldmine of beautiful, delicious, juicy tomatoes of all varieties. This bounty is especially in its prime during August, PA Produce Month, and it’s likely you’ve enjoyed your fair share of nourishing meals made with local #paveggies. But how does that wholesome tomato end up in the store or at the market and then on your table? There are many steps involved and actions taken daily to assure safe and quality delivery to the consumer. In honor of PA Produce Month, the Pennsylvania Vegetable & Marketing Research Program (PVMRP) checked in with Kaitlyn Horst of Cedar Meadow Farm in Holtwood, PA of Lancaster County. With her husband, they manage the entire tomato operation, which specializes in heirlooms. What does that management entail? Take a moment to hear from the expert!
